AVISONA 2019 will provide hands on training on the use of various bird recording equipments; guide generation and handling of database; carry out sonic data analysis and interpret the results.
Nilambur town (11°15'17.46"N, 76°10'54.66"E), on the banks of the Chaliyar river, is close to the Nilgiris range of the Western Ghats. The place is home to teak in India and hosts the first teak museum in the world. Connolly’s plot plantation, Kovilakom (house of erstwhile royalties) and few waterfalls are the other places of interest. The workshop venue (Sattva) is very close to Koyippara Waterfalls. After the successful completion of the workshop the participants will be able to:
1. Independently record bird calls using sonic recorders.
2. Create database for the sonic data recorded.
3. Analyse the acoustic data (R statistical tool)
4. Interpret the results based on analysis.
